SUMMARY:LFA Championship Tournament
DESCRIPTION:About\nIf you’re unfamiliar with the Logos Forensic Association (LFA)\, this program is the training arm of the IPS ministry.  The LFA is an academic league where Christian school students compete in speech and debate. \nThis activity fits into the mission of IPS by training students in research\, rhetoric\, and reasoning—helping students articulately defend their beliefs\, especially from a biblical viewpoint\, in public policy discussions. \nThe LFA imparts rhetorical training while IPS instills worldview.  Thus\, fulfilling the charge to train tomorrow’s leaders to speak boldly for truth. \n\nVolunteering\nStudents are in need of volunteers\, just like you\, to judge and score speech and debate competition.  Would you like to help? \n(If you’re a donor to IPS\, this is also a chance for you to see some of your gifts in action.  A portion of your donation helps train students through this activity.) \nAt this tournament\, junior and senior high school students from across the league compete in many different speech and debate events.  All of these events help students become critical thinkers and confident public speakers as they test and refine their communication skills. \nIn order to keep tournaments running\, however\, students need caring individuals like you to volunteer as judges. \nJudges play a crucial role in speech and debate as they score the round and decide the winner.  Tournaments literally cannot take place without judges—they’re indispensable to the activity. \nPlus\, a great deal of feedback for debaters comes from judges (like you) who take time to help students think through their arguments and improve their presentations.  This feedback is powerful and can help shape a student’s thinking\, especially as it relates to public policy. \nNo prior experience or knowledge is required to be a judge either.  You’re automatically qualified!  All that’s needed is a willingness to help.  Plus\, there’s orientation if you’re new to the activity. \nBeing a volunteer judge is a great opportunity for you to help young students.  It’s also an opportunity that will encourage you and renew your hope for America.  If you’re interested and available\, please contact the IPS/LFA office to talk about the difference your participation can make and where you can help.   \n(Event staff is also needed in several areas to ensure the tournament runs on time—providing another opportunity to help.) \n\nGiving\nIn 2008\, IPS created the LFA speech and debate league to create in-depth educational opportunities for Christian school students while preparing them to be future leaders.  As a program run by a nonprofit organization\, however\, the Logos Forensic Association is only able to serve and benefit students because of the generosity of people just like you. \nEven though schools and students pay membership dues to join the league\, private donations cover a substantial part of the league’s operating costs (including tournaments).  Please make a gift today to help train and equip leaders for Christ through speech and debate.  You’ll feel good knowing that you helped make a difference to disciple others!

SUMMARY:LFA Virtual Speech Tournament
\n\nVolunteering\nStudents are in need of volunteers\, just like you\, to judge and score speech competition.  Would you like to help? \n(If you’re a donor to IPS\, this is also a chance for you to see some of your gifts in action.  A portion of your donation helps train students through this activity.) \nAt this tournament\, junior and senior high school students from across the league compete in various speech events.  Each event prepares competitors to examine and respond to diverse perspectives while maintaining poise\, composure\, and awareness. Students are encouraged to engage in topics that are relevant to today’s issues and deliver their messages using the lens of Scripture.  You can learn about the differing kinds of individual speech events on the league website. \nIn order to keep tournaments running\, however\, students need caring individuals like you to volunteer as judges. \nJudges play a crucial role as they score the round and decide the winner.  Tournaments literally cannot take place without judges—they’re indispensable to the activity. \nPlus\, a great deal of feedback for competitors comes from judges (like you) who take time to help students think through their arguments and improve their presentations.  This feedback is powerful and can help shape a student’s thinking. \nNo prior experience or knowledge is required to be a judge either.  You’re automatically qualified!  All that’s needed is a computer and a willingness to help. \nBeing a volunteer judge is a great opportunity for you to help young students.  It’s also an opportunity that will encourage you and renew your hope for America.  If you’re interested and available\, please contact the IPS/LFA office to talk about the difference your participation can make and where you can help.   \n\nGiving\nIn 2008\, IPS created the LFA speech and debate league to create in-depth educational opportunities for Christian school students while preparing them to be future leaders.
