Modesto Debate Tournament
The Modesto Debate Club will be hosting their spring Heart of the Valley Speech and Debate tournament.
Tournament Judges Needed
Volunteer your time to give young competitors valuable feedback! Competitors are in great need of community members to judge speech and debate rounds and provide essential feedback. There will be over 200 students from 5 states attending the tournament.
Would you be willing to volunteer? No experience is necessary! Plus, a thorough orientation will be provided upon your arrival. The majority of community judges express how much they enjoyed this experience and how, after seeing these students compete, they have renewed hope for America.
During the tournament, competition rounds occur from early morning through the evening. Judges are scheduled for time slots that fit best within their schedules. Please allow 3 hours total between orientation, judging, and filling out your ballot. Refreshments are provided.
Of course, if you want to stay longer and judge more rounds that is highly appreciated. Please contact the community judge recruitment team for available time slots and more information.
Thank you for giving your time to help the future of these students!
Modesto Debate is a competitive homeschool debate club that trains junior high and high school students in the art and tactics of speech and debate. Founded in 1999, this club is taught personally by Mike and Mary Winther and is part of the Stoa USA Christian homeschool speech and debate league.
It is the goal of the Winthers to teach effective communication skills in the context of the proper biblical view of government and economics. Through their work with Modesto Debate, Mike and Mary have educated hundreds of students in the ethical and philosophical aspects of government and economics.
