Biblical Principles of Government Course Rebroadcast (Newark Community Church)
Biblical Principles of Government is a comprehensive worldview course taught by IPS President, Mike Winther. As hinted in the title, the course explores the biblical basis for the proper functions and limitations of government. Contrary to popular opinion, government is not free to do whatever it wishes. As an institution ordained by God, Scripture sets forth the boundaries by which government is authorized to act and for what purposes. Our job as Christians and citizens is to know these biblically-defined boundaries and then, even more importantly, to hold government officials accountable to these standards. This is the only way to restrain tyranny and unleash liberty, which is a defining hallmark of Christianity.
This is an adult course, but it is still well suited for high school and junior high students. This is also a popular family course that creates many positive family discussions, so we encourage whole families to take it together. Homework is very light, but by special arrangement, a more thorough and rigorous homework load can be assigned for those seeking school credit. Details on assignments are provided in the course study guide.
Newark Community Church is rebroadcasting the video recordings of the recently completed course taught at Calvary Chapel San Jose, which occurred in February – April. The video showings are on Monday nights beginning May 10 – July 12. The two date exceptions are Tuesdays June 1st and July 6th. There will be no Monday evening classes those weeks, and class will meet on those two Tuesday evenings from 7 – 9 pm instead. Other than those two exceptions, gatherings are once a week on Monday evenings from 7-9pm. There is a $25 charge for the course, which includes the study guide. Snacks and fellowship are welcome before and after the presentation time. For more information, contact Marie Ung.
